Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent water paint from drying, which might lower an electrostatic atomizing efficiency or cause a disturbance in a paint pattern, in electrostatic coating using the water paint, by feeding water and a solvent, which can dissolve the resin component of the water paint, to the periphery of a rotary disc to wash it.
CONSTITUTION: A paint is fed from a paint-feed part 23 through a paint tube 36 to a pipe 5. The paint continuously flowd down little by little from an opening at the top end 5a of the pipe 5 onto the backside inner surface of the first cylinder 3. A high pressuree air stream fed from a high pressure air-genearaing source 31 through an air tube 30 rotates an air motor 19, so as to rotate a rotary cup 1 at a high speed. The paint is spread toward the frontside inner surface of the first cylinder 3, and fed as a thin film toward a knife edge part 7. Pipes 38 and 41 to feed water and a solvent are arranged near the paint-feed pipe 5, so that the water or the solvent is continually fed to prevent the water paint from drying or adhering. Consuquently, continuous coating operation can be done.
