Abstract

PURPOSE: To control difference between the pressure of an atmospheric chamber and the pressure of an exhaust chamber, then maintain a constant content of exhaust gas in the intake air, by communicating through a passage both chambers formed in a pressure control valve by which is controlled the negative pressure of exhaust gas recirculation system.
CONSTITUTION: An intake port 3 and an exhaust port 5 of an intake passage 4 and an exhaust passage 6 are communicated with each other by a reflux passage 30 which has a EGR valve 11. A negative pressure chamber 13' of the EGR valve 11 is communicated with the vincinity of a throttle valve 7 through a negative pressure passage 21, while a pressure control valve 12, which enables to intake the air, is provided in the negative pressure passage 21. The pressure control valve 12 is divided by a diaphragm 14 into the atmospheric chamber 15 and the exhaust chamber 16 which is communicated with a constant-pressure chamber 10 and pressurized by the exhaust pressure. Also, both chambers are communicated through a communicating passage 17, and whose opening formed in the vicinity of the diaphragm 14 is communicating or shutting off the passage in response to a chage of the exhaust pressure in the exhaust chamber, thus carrying on its function of regulation.
