PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having an excellent adhesive strength between a magnetic layer and a base material and a high magnetic properties (coercive force and squareness), by forming a metallic and magnetic layer on the base material of a high molecular molded product to which the copper is vapor-deposited as a foundation process. CONSTITUTION:The copper is obliquely vapor-deposited on a base material 1 of a high molecular molded product (such as a polyethylene terephthalate film) with an angle of about >=40 degrees. Thus a copper layer 2 is obtained with an about >=200mu thickness. Thereafter, a magnetic metal (such as a Co-Ni alloy) is obliquely vapor-deposited on the layer 2 to form a magnetic layer 3. Thus a magnetic recording medium is obtained.
