Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent mismeasurement due to noise by interrupting the speed computation when a particular reflected ultrasonic noise is detected. CONSTITUTION:A part of an ultrasonic wave reflected from a vehicle is received with an ultrasonic receiver 5 and applied to a noise detecting section 17. When ultrasonic noise or the like coming from a chain or the like of the vehicle passing the BPF14 exceeds the specified level, a detector 15 generates a detection output. Then, this detection output controls an analog switch circuit 16 to interrupt the input to a Doppler counting circuit 9. This eliminates miscomputation due to ultrasonic noise from the chain or the like thereby preventing mismeasurement of the speed of the vehicle due to such noise.
