Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize the choke coil of a DC-DC converter by a method wherein an auxiliary winding is provided to the choke coil to make a current to flow in the direction opposite to the magnetizing direction to be generated by an output current. CONSTITUTION:The auxiliary winding Nb is provided to a winding Na of the choke coil, flyback energy of a transformer T1 is made to flow in the auxiliary winding Nb through a diode D1 connected to the primary side and a resistor R1' for prevention of an excessive current, and the winding Na of the choke coil and the winding Nb of the auxiliary winding are so connected as the currents in the respective windings to perform opposite directional magnetization with each other on a core of the choke coil. As a result, by making the converter to operate making the region (b) being not to reach saturation of the B-H curve as the center of the magnetization curve of core of the choke coil, a large type core being provided with a high saturation point can be made as needless, and the choke coil can be miniaturized.
