Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a molten zinc resistant alloy steel for a galvanizing apparatus with improved corrosion resistance by restricting the composition of a Cr- Mn-Ni steel and the composition of secondary components.
CONSTITUTION: This molten zinc resistant alloy steel contains, by weight, 0.3W 0.5% C, ≤1.5% Si, 8.0W12.0% Mn, ≤0.40% F, ≤0.04% S, 2.0W3.0% Ni and 15.0W19.0% Cr and further contains 0.3W1.0% Nb and ≤0.2% N as required. By this composition the alloy steel has high corrosion resistance to a molten zinc bath and causes especially no vermicular corrosion. Since the alloy steel is superior to conventional "Resalloy " in vermicular corrosion resistance to a molten zinc bath, it can enhance the operational rate and productivity of a galvanizig apparatus when it is applied to the apparatus.
