Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a high-voltage power supply used for an electronic printer without using a special protection circuit, through the provision of a transistor (TR) operated from a low voltage power supply at the prestage of the TRs in series connection performing high voltage switching. CONSTITUTION:TRs 4 and 5 are connected in series with a high voltage power supply VH being the objective of switching and a high voltage current is applied to a load 1. A TR3 is connected to a low voltage power supply VM for operation and the collector and emitter of the TR3 are respectively connected to the base of the TRs 4 and 5 via resistors R2 and R3. When the TR3 is turned off, no current flows to the load 1 and when the TR3 is turned on with an input power supply VIN, the collector potential of the TR3 is almost equal to VM and the TR4 is turned on via the R3. In this case, the potential of the TR5 is increased and the base current of the TR5 flows, the collector current of the TR5 flows to supply a high voltage current to the load 1 without increasing the emitter-collector voltage of the TR5.
