Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect accurate size easily by providing a transfer sheet detecting means and moving it from a counter-set reference part to a set reference part, detecting the side ends of a transfer sheet, and thus detecting the size of the sheet. CONSTITUTION:Once a cassette is loaded in a copying machine, a loading detection sensor 16 turns on and a side end detection sensor 10 moves gradually from its home position toward a reference side wall 14. For example, when transfer paper 2 of A4 size is set along the reference side wall 14, the home position side of a bottom plate 20 is exposed partially from the transfer paper 2. Consequently, the side end detection sensor 10 is turned off. The sensor 10 moves awhile and when light emitted from its light emitting element is reflected at a prescribed position, the sensor 10 turns on to stop the movement. At this point of time, a control part decides that the transfer paper 2 is of A size. Thus, accurate size is detected easily.
