Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the variation of a belt tension being increased or decreased due to the variation of a temperature by a method wherein a shock absorber, provided between a fixed shaft at the central section of the idler and the inner race of a bearing section, is secured to the inner race. CONSTITUTION:The shock absorber 1 of rubber or the like is provided at the outer periphery of the fixed shaft 2 attached to a structure by a fixing screw 3 and is secured to the inner race 4 of the bearing section B of the idler A located at the outer perhery thereof. An outer race 5 is utilized also for the outer peripheral section of the idler being contacted with the timing belt 6. When the tension of the belt 6 has become high by a thermal expansion due to the variations of an operating condition and an environment, the shock absorber 1 is deformed to decrease the tension of the belt 6. On the contrary, in case the belt is used at a cold site wherein a thermal contraction may be caused, the shock absorber 1 is deformed beforehand by giving a tension to the belt 6 and thereby correcting the tension into a direction wherein the tension is increased due to the restoring force of the shock absorber 1.
