Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the anti-thermal cracking property of the titled brake disk and to extend the life time thereof by securing the cooling capacity of the fins by a method wherein the fins in large numbers are arranged radially on one side surface of the disk in such a manner that a carbon steel material is hot forged on that surface. CONSTITUTION:The carbon steel material for producing a forged steel product is hot forged onto one side surface of the thick disk 1 so that a number of fins 2 are formed on that surface to provide a slide surface 3. In this case, the spaces among the fins 2 are made sufficiently large so that the shape forging of the carbon steel material is facilitated enabling the finned brake disk to be manufactured at low cost and the life of the disk is extended to a great degree.
