Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the efficiency in cooling an oil by providing at least one of inner and outer pipes with a plurality of ridges and hollows, in a device wherein an oil cooler comprising a cylindrical oil-passing space formed between an inner pipe and an outer pipe is incorporated in a radiator.
CONSTITUTION: In the device having the oil cooler incorporated in the radiator, the oil cooler 3 having a cylindrical shape is fitted in a lower tank 1s of the radiator 1 and oil is circulated into the cooler 3 through oil-passing pipes 4, 5 so that the oil is cooled by engine-cooling water. The oil cooler 3 comprises the inner pipe 7 inserted in the outer pipe 6, with expanded parts 8 at both ends of the inner pipe 7 being closely contacted to the inside peripheral surface of the outer pipe 6 so as to form the oil-passing space 11 between the pipes 6, 7. In this case, both or one of the pipes 6, 7 (in the example shown, the inner pipe 7 only) consists of an electric welded pipe which is produced by a method wherein a flat metallic plate provided with the plurality of ridges and hollows by press shaping is formed into a cylindrical shape and the longitudinal edges thereof are butt-welded to each other. Accordingly, turbulent flows are induced in the oil passing through the space 11, thereby enhancing the efficiency in cooling the oil.
