Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain said tape suitable for a covering tape for an optical fiber, by stretching and orienting a plastic tape highly by a dielectric heating method so as to make the plastic tape to have a low coefficient of linear expansion and a high modulus of elasticity at its longitudinal direction.
CONSTITUTION: A plastic tape (e.g. a polyethylene, etc.) 1 molded by an extruding apparatus is delivered from the feeding machine 3, heated dielectrically by a dielectric heating apparatus 2 and stretched via a take-off roll 4, then taken up by a take-off roll 5 via a cooling device 6 and wound up by a winder 7, thus an aimed tape is obtained.
