Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain effective use of electromagnetic waves, by controlling a reference voltage and a detecting voltage at a control circuit, controlling a variable gain power amplifier so that an output power corresponding to the reference voltage can be obtained and obtaining a minimum output power required for the frequency of the power amplifier. CONSTITUTION:A high frequency power applied to an input terminal 8 is amplified at a variable gain amplifier 1, further amplified at a power amplifier 2 and applied to a load from an output terminal 9. A part of the output power is picked up at a directional coupler 3 and rectified into a DC at a detector 4. An output voltage 14 of the detector 4 is compared at a control circuit 5 with a reference voltage 15 selected out of a plurality of reference voltages at a switching selection circuit 6 with a control circuit 5, a control voltage 16 is outputted so that an output corresponding to the reference voltage can be obtained at the terminal 9 by changing the gain of the amplifier 1. The output power is controlled with the reference power and an arbitrary stable output power can be obtained. Thus, required minimum output power can be obtained not to prevent the effective use of electromagnetic waves.
