In the furnace 2 a long-sized material 3 to be heat treated is moved in the direction of the axis (l), and it is heat treated while applying a magnetic field perpendicular to the moving direction. Thus, the long-sized material is easily converted into a magnet in a direction perpendicular to the axis.
