Abstract

PURPOSE: An easily handleable and efficient anaerobic system for cultivating anaerobes containing an oxygen absorbing agent consisting of ferrous carbonate as a principal component in a container of airtight structure without the danger of explosion, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen absorbing agent, having a specific surface area of preferably ≥20m2/g, particularly ≥50m2/g, and a crystallite size ≤400Å, and consisting of ferous carbonate as a principal component, and if desired a small amount of an inorganic substance, a lubricant or drying agent, is contained in a container e.g. a jar, of airtight structure, and usable for the cultivation of anaerobes.
