Abstract

PURPOSE: To form needlelike zinc oxide particles having a uniform particle size by adding an org. compound forming base or acid by hydrolysis to an aqueous zinc salt soln.
CONSTITUTION: To an aqueous zinc salt soln. is added an org. compound forming base by hydrolysis or an org. compound forming acid by hydrolysis. Hexamethylenetetramine and ethylene chlorohydrin are especially preferable as the former and the latter, respectively. The reaction temp. is 20W100°C. When hexamethylenetetramine is used, the preferred temp. is 60W100°C, and when ethylene chlorohydrin is used, the preferred temp. is 40W100°C. The reaction time is 5W60min. The resulting precipitate is separated by filtration, washed, and dried.
