Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacture of an electrode body eliminating troublesome calculation by forming the surface contour of a skert section of the electrode body from two continuous circular arcs different in the radius. CONSTITUTION:The contour of the end rim of an electrode is formed from a circular arc a2 (radius R1, center angle theta2) continuing a circular arc a1 (R1, theta1) from the circumference of the center 1 thereof and is set at d<=R1<=5d, 5 deg.<theta1<60 deg., theta2=90 deg.-theta1 and R2<R1. With such an arrangement, each spherical section 2C can be manufactured easily without troublesome calculation. This enables the formation of a uniform electric field thereby triggering and maintaining a stable glow discharge.
