PURPOSE:To eliminate the tearing and wrinkling of a sheet by giving a difference in height between the engagement parts of a main and a subordinate reference pin, and fitting the subordinate reference pin in a subordinate reference hole having a play in a column direction after fitting the main reference pin in a main reference hole having no play. CONSTITUTION:A sheetlike body, e.g. transfer paper 4 mounted on the lift plate 12 of an electronic copying machine is pressed down by an air cylinder 24 together with the lift plate 12, and its main and subordinate reference holes 14 and 16 are fitted around main and subordinate reference pins 6 and 8 provided to a rotary drum 2, thus positioning the paper.
