PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain record images of high quality by maintaining such a condition wherein magnetic fluid substances are completely removed from the top end of a recording neelde and inside a supply route up to the end of the recording needle by seqparating such substances from those parts at the time of non-use. CONSTITUTION:At the time of recording, a bulging magent 13a is at the position of broken lines 25 and the position 25 is such a position where a recording electrode 2 is magnetized and a bulge is formed by causing magnetic fluid 6 to adhere to its top end and a bulge for appropriate recording is obtained. Upon completion of recording, a switch 7 is turned off, the level of magnetic fluid inside electrodes 4a, 4b becomes a position 17 and a small amount of magnetic fluid 19 adhers to and remains at the top end of the recording electrode 2.
