Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform the distillation of seawater with a small heat loss, by setting the sace between the distilling surface of the seawater and the condensating surface of the evaporated steam approximate to the minute space which is necessary for evaporation of the steam.
CONSTITUTION: The seawater is supplied to the liquid holders 3 and 5 made of sponge through a seawater supply pipe 6. A heat collecting plate 1 is heated by the solar heat or other heat sources, and the holder 3 on the rear side of the plate 1 is heated. Thus the seawater is evaporated and has the dew condensation on the surface of a condensating plate 41 approximating to the evaporating surface of the holder 3 with a minute space (d). Owing to this dew condensation, the heat of condensation discharged to the plate 41 evaporates the seawater impregnated by the holder 5 on the rear side of the plate 1. Then the dew condensation is caused on the next condensating plate 42. In such way, the evaporation and the condensation are performed for the seawater. The condensed seawater flowing down along the holders 3 and 5 is discharged through a discharge groove 7. The distilled water which had the dew condensation on the surface of each condensating plate 4 flows down to be discharged through a distilled water sidcharge groove 8.
