Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of sulfur oxide in the exhaust gas of a lead matellurgical furnace by fractionating a sulfuric acid component from a lead capacitor waste material by a halogenated hydrocarbon having specific gravity higher than that of sulfuric acid.
CONSTITUTION: A halogenated hydrocarbon solvent having specific gravity higher than that of dilute sulfuric acid such as ethylene trichloride, ethylene tetrachloride or the like is prepared and, in this colvent, a waste lead material obtained by disassembling a lead capacitor and a dilute sulfuric acid impregnated partition plate material are immersed. After immersion, floated components are separated and the waste lead material is taken out. The obtained waste lead material from which a sulfuric acid component or the like are separated and removed is thrown into a metallurgical furnace to be subjected to metallurgical treatment.
