Abstract

PURPOSE:To charge molten metal at a constant rate and a constant speed with simple and inexpensive installations without polluting environments by maintaining the melt level constant by the use of a float moving vertically in the molten metal and a melt level detector, and opening and closing a gate by a control means thereby charging the molten metal into a casting machine. CONSTITUTION:A float 5 resembling to the inside surface shape of a crucible 2 is moved vertically in molten metal 3 by a piston 6' and a horizontal arm 5' which are operated by an oil hydraulic cylinder 6 in accordance with the signal from a melt level detector 10, whereby the melt level in the crucible 2 is maintained constant. A driving device 12 is operated or stopped by the signal from the casting machine or the time control of a timer or the like to move a gate 11 vertically, thereby opening or closing the crucible port 2' and controlling the charging to a sleeve 14 of the casting machine. The top surface of the crucible 2 is shut off of the outside air by a furnace cover 1', whereby the possibility of environmental pollution is eliminated.
