Abstract
PURPOSE:To utilize an optical fiber effectively, and to improve reliability of an optical transmission system, by using an optical fiber for control signal transmitting as a bi- directional transmission line, and adding a control signal for also using it as an optical pass of a signal from the image sending side. CONSTITUTION:On both ends of a control signal transmitting optical fiber 8, directional couplers 20, 21 are provided, and the optical fiber 8 is utilized in bi-directional transmission. A video signal from a camera 1 of this video optical transmission system is converted to an optical signal by an electrooptic converter 2, is converted to an electric signal by an photoelectric converter 4 of the image receiving side through an optical fiber 3, and is displayed on a monitor 5. Also, a control signal to the camera 1 from an operating device 6 is converted to an optical signal by an electrooptic converter 7, is converted to an electric signal by an photoelectric converter 7 through the coupler 21, the fiber 8 and the coupler 20, and a turning device 10 is controlled by its output. On the other hand, a current of a light emitting element of the image sending side is detected by a monitoring circuit 22, the electric signal is converted to the optical signal, is sent to the image receiving side through the fiber 8, and is displayed as a bias current of the light emitting element on a displaying circuit 25.
