Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct a reference level between respective bits, and to minimize influence exerted on a reproducing picture due to dirt of a white level reference, by setting a limit of a value taken by a correction factor of each bit of an analog picture signal, to every bit or every block. CONSTITUTION:A peak value (d) of 1 line of an analog picture signal VIN from an image sensor is held in a peak holding circuit 8, and is controlled by a control signal (c). This peak value (d) and the signal VIN are applied to a D/A converter 10 as reference voltage through a bracketing device 9, and are converted to a digital signal. The digital signal of this converter 10 is applied to an A/D converter 12 to which the signal VIN is inputted, and by an analog signal of the converter 12, a comparing register 11 is controlled in order, and by an output of the register 11, the contents of a memory 13 are read out as a correction factor against each bit and are written in a memory 14. Subsequently, a correction factor of every bit or every block is set, and correction between respective bits is executed.
