Abstract

PURPOSE: Inorganic pigment having improved corrosion-resistant effect causing no environmental pollution, comprising phosphorus and magnesium in a specific ratio, having a specified specific surface area, and substantially consisting of a glassy substance.
CONSTITUTION: 15W80wt% phosphorus (e.g., orthophosphoric acid) based on oxide P2O5 is blended with 20W80wt% magnesium (e.g., magnesium oxide, etc.) based on oxide MgO, and, if necessary, aluminum, silica, calcium, manganese, and boron. The mixture, for example, is heated at 1,250W1,450°C, to give a melt, which is quenched, to give the desired pigment of a glassy substance having a specific surface area of ≥0.1m2/g.
USE: Also useful as loading pigment.
