CONSTITUTION:An 8-track cartridge 50 is arranged in a rack 31 fixedly in vertical and horizontal directions, and a motor 6 as a tape driving means, a fly-wheel 9, a capstan 10, and idler 11, a pinch roller 12, and a reproducing head 13 are arranged on a sliding plate 4. The sliding plate is moved in the horizontal direction of an arrow A and can be brought into contact with a tape 52 wound on the cartridge 50, and a casing 1 provided with this sliding plate is moved along the rack 31 in vertical and horizontal directions and can face to an optional cartridge 50. Thus, the capacity occupied by many cartridges is reduced to make the automatic tape player small-sized.
