Abstract
PURPOSE:To set the tension of a timing belt by one time operation, by slightly turning a cm pulley toward a tensioner to loose the belt thereon and then applying some force to the tensioner to push the belt. CONSTITUTION:When a timing belt 15 is normally fitted on a crank pulley 1 and a cam pulley 3, the securing nut 6 of a tensioner 4 is compltely loosened or turned clockwise, so that the belt 5 is kept from being pushed. The holes 10 of a cam pulley 3 are utilized to turn a cam shaft clockwise by one to three teeth (9 to 27 deg.). After that, the loose part of the timing belt 15 is pushed by the spring force of a tensioner 4 to set the belt a predetermined tension. A nut 6 is then tightened to maintain the belt 15 at the predetermined tension. The tension of the belt 15 is thus set by one time of operation.
