Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically adjust the tension of the turning-force transmitting member at a prescribed value by a method wherein a holding part is provided with a screwing-force imparting means for imparting a screwing force to a pushing member which is screwed to the holding part and has one end thereof contacted with one side of said member.
CONSTITUTION: When the tension of a chain 21 is reduced, the potential screwing force of a cylindrical bolt 12a is developed, the bolts 12a is rotated and screwed following up to the reduction in the tension of the chain 21, a rod 12b is simultaneously pushed and pushes the chain 21 by a predetermined force through a slide contact member 14. Accordingly, the tension of the chain 21 is constantly maintained at the prescribed value. In addition, small variations in the tension of the chain 21 generated by various causes during the driving of the chain 21 are absorbed by a coiled spring 12c interposed between the rod 12b and a washer 122.
