Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out the reaction for the preparation of hydrocarbon from methanol and/or dimethyl ether, by using a crystalline silicate compound as the catalyst having remarkably high activity and long life.
CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarbon is prepared by the catalytic reaction of methanol, dimethyl ether, etc. at 250W600°C and 0.8W20kg/cm2 pressure using a catalyst composed mainly of a crystalline silicate compound containing the compound of formula (M is Ag, Zn, Sn, Ti, Sb, Co, Rh, or lantanide rare earth element; n is atomic valence of the element M; x is 1W5,000) as an essential component. The crystalline silicate compound can be obtained by reacting an SiO2 source (e.g. alkali metal silicate), chloride, etc. of the element M, and an inorganic alkali and/or a nitrogen-containing compound in an aqueous solution or dispersion at 100W250°C, and crystallizing the product. The catalyst can be regenerated easily by calcining at 500W700°C.
