Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress leakage by making the angle between the shaft center and the side face of the open side of the meridian plane passage of an impeller less than 90 deg. and applying a component of the centrifugal force generated by revolutions of the impeller to the particles flowing in a gap between the impeller and a casing in the direction of the blade passage. CONSTITUTION:The angle theta(8) formed between the axis 1a of the side face of the open side of an impeller 1 and the rotary shaft center line 7 is made 90 deg.. A centrifugal force 10 is applied to the particles 9 near the blades flowing through a gap between the impeller 1 and a casing 2 due to the viscosity by revolutions of the blades. Then, if the centrifugal force 10 is divided into the component force 11 in the meridian plane direction of the blade and the component force 12 in the vertical direction to the side face of the blade, the component force 12 is directed toward the blade passage. That is, the flow through the gap 6 is applied with a force enforcing it into the impeller passage. Thereby, leakage is reduced and the pump efficiency can be improved.
