Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a water seal structure for sealing the top end portion of rotor blades, in which sealing water is retained in a groove formed in the upper diaphragm by the function of a plate-like projection of shroud ring that is moved together with rotation of rotor blades, whereby service life of fluid machine can be prolonged by preventing leakage of working fluid from the top end portion of the rotor blades.
CONSTITUTION: Plate-like projection 29 formed around shroud ring 5 is moved in groove 45 formed in upper diaphragm 3, together with rotation of rotor blades 2. Here, if sealing water 30 exists in the groove 45, it is retained in the groove 45 by the function of centrifugal force produced by the rotation of plate-like projection 29 and viscosity of the sealing water 30 itself. As the result, water seal is provided between the projection 29 and upper diaphragm 3, so that leakage of working fluid of an axial-flow fluid machine can be positively prevented.
