Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a small quantity and deversified kinds of copper-contg. cast iron castings efficiently by supplying a copper wire rod continuously into the molten cast iron just before it is charged into a mold for casting. CONSTITUTION:A copper material 10 of a long size having 3-100mm.<2> total sectional areas is supplied continuously and forcibly through a guiding pipe 3 form a reel 1 by pinch rolls 2 into the molten cast iron 7 near the stopper rod 6 of a spout part 5 for charging of an automatic charger 4, whereby copper is added and the molten cast iron copper 8 added with the copper enters a mold 9. Said material 10 has either a circular or square shape in a sectional shape and a single wire or stranded wires are used for the same. However, in order to maintain the required supply speed, the total sectional area of the material 10 is limited to 3-100mm.<2>. Said material 10 is supplied into the molten metal 7 just before it is charged into the mold 9, whereby the amt. of addition of the copper is changed easily.
