Abstract
PURPOSE:To heighten the output torque of an engine, by providing an electronic control unit to regulate a waste gate valve installed in the by-pass of an exhaust turbine, to increase the supercharging pressure of the engine as its rotational frequency rises. CONSTITUTION:The air discharge chamber 12 of an intake compressor 7 is connected to an intake manifold 2. The exhaust inflow chamber 14 of an exhaust turbine 6 is connected to an exhaust manifold 4. When supercharging pressure has become lower than the optimum, the time of pulse generated by an electronic control unit 35 is shortened to reduce the time of excitation of a solenoid 32. As a result, the pressure of a diaphragm chamber 20 falls so that the open area of an inlet port 24 decreases. For that reason, the quantity of exhaust gas flowing through a by-pass pipe 17 decreases so that the supercharging pressure rises. The supercharging pressure is thus kept at the optimum to improve the fuel efficiency.
