Abstract

PURPOSE:To quickly cut slag and prevent slag inclusion into molten steel flow under tapping by suspending a nozzle stopper to the leading end of a stopper supporting arm, providing driving mechanisms in front of a furnace port and operating the arm according to purposes. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle stopper 5 is suspended to the leading end of a nozzle supporting arm 4, and is inserted into a converter 2 by integrally or discretely driving an arm swiveling mechanism, an arm elevating mechanism 11, an arm eifting mechanism 13 and an arm extending mechanism 7 provided on the working surface on the rear side of the converter 2 or the like. When the converter 2 tilts down to a tapping angle, the nozzle stopper 5 is lowered to adjust the clearance between the stopper 5 and the converter 2, through which the molten steel is tapped. After the tapping, the stopper 5 is lowered again to cut the slag; at the same time, a steel receiving pan is moved to a teeming shop and the converter 2 is returned to the original position. Thence, the stopper 5 is moved upward and the entire slag cut device is retreated.
