Abstract
PURPOSE: To cut or stop flowing glass by setting a cutter mechanism comosed chiefly of a cutter body positioned toward a part below the bottom outflow nozzle of a glass melting furnace in the perpendicular direction of the nozzle and provided with a cutting edge amd of an arm swinging the cutter body toward the tip of the nozzle at a part below the nozzle.
CONSTITUTION: A cutter mechanism composed chiefly of a cutter body 3 positioned toward a part below the nozzle 2 of a glass melting furnace 1 holding molten glass in the perpendiculr direction of the nozzle 2 and provided with a cutting edge and of an arm 4 swinging the body 3 toward the tip of the nozzle 2 is set at a part below the furnace 1. The arm 4 is set with the winging center C deviated from the perpendicular axial line of the nozzle 2. The arm 4 describers a circular arc around the center C, and the arm 4 is operated so that it reaches a point A and a point B when glass flowing from the nozzle 2 is stopped and allowed to flow out, respectively, when the cutter 3 is positioned to the point A, the flowing glass is cut.
