Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which has superior wear resistance and superior magnetic recording and reproducing characteristics by making a C type core half body of a high magnetic permeability magnetic material which improves recording and reproducing characteristics, and an I type core half body of a high magnetic permeability magnetic material which has superior wear resistance. CONSTITUTION:An I type core half body 31 made of Mn-Zn ferrite single crystal and a C type core half body 32 are connected by glass with an operating gap 34 in-between, the core thickness of a track-width regulating part is less than the core thickness of the remaining part, and glass 39 for protection is packed therein. The flanks of the C type and I type cores are set on a surface (110) and the angles theta and theta' between respective axes <110> in the surface (110) and the opposite surfaces 37 and 38 of a magnetic recording medium invariably have a 90 deg. angle difference; and then the magnetic-recording-medium opposite surface of the I type core semiconductor is composed of the surface (110) and the theta is set to 5-40 deg.. As a result, wear resistance is improved and magnetic recording and reproducing characteristics are also improved.
