Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the flow direction of a fluid with an extremenly low velocity by arranging a substitute material having different electric properties from the fluid to be measured at an observation part, and then detecting the movement of the substitute material simultaneously in a four-electrode method using a group of measuring electrode and on time-division basis from the group of measuring electrodes. CONSTITUTION:An observation part is charbed with a substitute material, such as an electrolyte and pure water, having different electric properties from undergroun water W. When the underground water W flows into the observation part, the substitute material moves, so its movement is detected in the form of variation in conductivity by using four adjacent electrodes among external electrodes 71-82 and internal electrodes 88-94, thus measuring the flow direction. For this conductivity measurement, the electrode groups P1, P2... are connected to a measuring circuit on time-division basis.
