Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the deterioration of processed water when a sewage inflow amount is small, by dividing an aeration vessel into a plurality of zones along the direction of sewage flow so that sewage can be introduced into each zone, and using the zones as sewage-reserving areas succssively from the uppermost one.
CONSTITUTION: An aeration vessel 3 is divided into four compartments, i.e. AWD zones, along the direction of sewage flow. A sewage influent is introduced through the inflow gate 10 to the compartment A, and successively flows downwards AWD zones. In each zone AWD, the sewage is aerated, and separated into sludge and processed water by precipitation in a final sedimentation pool 4. A sludge concentration in each zone AWD is measured by a sludge densitometer 17W20, respectively, and the measured value is compared with the objective sludge concentration by a control circuit 8. If the measured value is lower than the objective value, a pump 5 is driven to charge active sludge from the final sedimentation pool 4 into the vessel 3. On the contrary, if the measured value is higher than the objective value, the pump 5 is stopped to stop the inflow of the active sludge into the vessel 3.
