Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst excellent in the heat resistance and with an effect of oxygen storage by employing an alumina including a composite oxide containing rare earth element as an alumina carrier for catalysts. CONSTITUTION:A carrier of a catalyst for cleaning emission of automobiles, cracking oil or the like is composed of an alumina including a composite oxide LnBO3-delta (where delta>=0, B=Al, for example, VI group a and VII group a of the periodic law) containing rare earth element Ln. This carrier has a very stable composition even under a high temperature and the composite oxide provides a quick diffusion of oxygen and an easy adsorption and desorption within the structure. Thus, a catalyst can be obtained excellent in the heat resistance and with a proper effect of oxygen storage.
