Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the amounts of radioactive gas and hydrogen gas to be remained by negatively charging the secondary side of a permeator in a method of separating the radioactive gas from hydrogen gas in which hydrogen gas used for extracting and separating radioactive gas present in the cooling water of a nuclear reactor is directed into the permeator.
CONSTITUTION: Cooling water in a volume control tank 1 is introduced from the cooling water circulation system of a nuclear reacor and circulate. Hydrogen gas is blown from a blower 5 into the cooling water 2 to extract radioactive gas present in the cooling water 2, and hydrogen gas containing radioactive gas is compressed to a given pressure by a compressor 9 and then sent into the primary chamber of a permeator 11 with a Pd alloy film, where hydrogen gas permeates through the alloy film, enters the secondary chamber, is sucked up by an ejector 15, and then released into the open air. Radioactive gas remaining in the primary chamber is stored through a pressure controller 12 in a tank 13. Thus, hydrogen gas remaining in the primary chamber can be controlled to below a combustible limit.
