Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the S/N during reading out and to make writing relatively easy by performing recording from a Tb-Fe film side of large coercive force and reading out from a Gd-Fe film side. CONSTITUTION:A disc 7 is constituted of a recording layer 7b constituted of a material of large coercive force Hc, a Tb-Fe layer, and a read-out layer 7a of small Hc which causes transfer magnetization when said layer is magnetized, a Gd-Fe layer. The laser condensed by a condenser lens 6 elevates the film temp. of the 1st layer 7b to a temp. higher than the Curie point of the material constituting the 1st layer and when magnetization inversion is caused in the direction perpendicular to the film plane in the 1st layer 7b by appling bias magnetization with bias magnetization 8, the 2nd layer 7a is magnetized by the magnetization of the 1st layer 7b. The layer 7b and the layer 7a are fixed as one body on a turntable 19, and are so constituted as to be turned around a spindle 21 by a motor 20.
