Abstract
PURPOSE: To remove chlorine from a raw material containing chlorine by less treating water and drying energy without scattering dust by packing previously pelleted chlorine-containing slag, etc., of smoke ash, etc. produced at steelmaking, in a washing tank, removing the chlorine by flushing water sprinkled from above, and allowing water containing the chlorine to overflow from a discharging port.
CONSTITUTION: Said chlorine-containing slag pellets 1 are supplied, as shown by 2, to a pellet scouring kier 4 through a hopper 2, and charged therein. Then, pure water or dilute alkali water 5 is sprinkled over the pellets 1 in the kier 4 from nozzles 7 through a pump 6. This water penetrates the layer of the pellets 1 to remove chlorine from the pellets, and the water containing the chlorine is discharged by overflowing from a discharging port 8 provided at the lower part of the kier 4. Then, the pellets 1 removed from the chlorine are discharged from a pellet discharging opening 11 and dried in a drying furnace before being supplied to a dry furnace, etc.
