Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance dehydrating efficiency and unnecessitate an exclusive washer by a method wherein a screen sludge recovered at a sewage treatment plant or the like is subjected to a simple washing by shaking it with washing water in a chute to remove muddy components, then the sludge is subjected to primary and secondary dehydration.
CONSTITUTION: In the condition where a chute 6 is either opened or closed, when the screen sludge is fed onto an introducing chute 10 by a feed conveyor 13, high-pressure washing water is sprayed from nozzles 14 for washing to wash the sludge. When the opening of the chute 6 is opened, the sludge and washing water are fed between the chute 6 and an upper roller 1, when part of the washings is solely drained through dehydrating holes of the chute 6. Then, while supplying washing water, the roller 1 is stopped and the chute 6 pressed against the surface of the roller 1 and is shaken. After removing mud, faces and the like contained in the sludge by repeating this operation, the supply of washing water is stopped and the chute 6 is shaken to carry out the primary dehydration. Then, the secondary dehydration is conducted by driving the rollers 1, 2 in the direction of arrows and pressing the sludge and the like between the rollers 1, 2.
