Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtin copies of a desired image density, by adding detecting circuits, by which allowable maximum and minimum toner densities of a developing device are obtained, besides an image density detecting circuit and making these detecting circuits operatable only in the copy preparation state. CONSTITUTION:Maximum and minimum density detecting circuits 27 and 28 are added to obtain allowable maximum and minimum toner densities of a developing device. These maximum and minimum density detecting circuits 27 and 28 are provided with comparators 30 and 32, which receive the image density signal from an amplifier 20 and compare this signal with reference levels Rf(max) and Rf(min) corresponding to maximum and minimum toner densities, and drivers 31 and 33 which receive outputs of comparators to drive a toner feed motor M1. These maximum and minimum density detecting circuits 27 and 28 are not operated unless toner increasing and toner reducing commands are issued, and these commands are generated only when the developing device is ready.
