Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a highly sensitive detection by properly changing over the number of turns of first and second receiving coils arranged in a magnetic field generated thereby with a selection switch in a detector for metal mingled into a test object. CONSTITUTION:The oscillation frequency of an oscillator 1 is divided with a divider 2, converted into a sine wave with a voltage amplifier 3 and supplied to a transmission coil P at a detection coil section 4. A balance circuit 5 produces an unbalanced output only when metal exists in a test object passing between the transmission coil P and receiving coils S1 and S2 thereby permitting the detection of the mingling of metal with a detection circuit 10. The coils P and S1 and S2 are so arranged to select the number of turns with selector switches 41-43 according to material of test objects and metal to be detected and the number of turns of the coils P and S1 and S2 is changed over according to frequecy, a highly sensitive detection can be done.
