Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate connection with a connector while maintaining the high density of an optical fiber by providing a feeding conductive beltlike body around an optical fiber sheathed with fiber reinforced plastics. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of an optical fiber 2 made of a core and a clad material, a primary covering layer 3 of plastics is formed, and a secondary covering layer 4 of fiber reinforced plastics is formed on the external circumference of the layer 3. Further, a conductive beltlike body 5 for feeding is formed on its external circumference. Furthermore the external circumference of the body 5 is covered with a thermoplastic resin layer 6 to compact an optical fiber for communication and a feeding unit together to high density. Even when side pressure is applied during the connection of the conductive beltlike body, the optical fiber is protected by the secondary covering layer made of the fiber reinforced plastics.
