Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize a flow of sliding grains and to prevent a jam at a light tramission window, by constituting a spilt-grain detector by forming a grain flow flume by using a hard transparent material, and then providing the light transmission window at part of the colored surface of the flume surface. CONSTITUTION:Sample rice hulls flowing down from a supply hopper 13 to an oscillatory slanting feed grain flume 11 are supplied to a high level side through the oscillation of the flume, and flow from a grain discharge opening 12 into the streak groove 2 of an oscillatory feed grain flume 8. The rice hulls flowing in the streak groove 2 in a longitudinal array passes through a light transmission part 6 while flowing down along the streak groove 4 of a grain flow flume body 5, and consequently split grins detected through a light source 7 and photodetecting elements 8A and 8B by the quantity of light. This invention uses a transparent material A harder than grain surfaces for the flume body 5 and an opaque colored surface B is formed on the surface of the streak groove 4 to provide the light transmission window 6 at some part. Thus, variation in flow, a jam at the light transmission window, etc., due to the breakdown of a sliding flow surface are prevented to stabilize the quantity of transmitted light, thereby improving detection precision.
