NEW MATERIAL:Tetrahydro-MB-530B, its metal salt, aminoacid salt, amine salt and ester in the carboxyl group of formulaIWV (M is metallic element; n is valency of the metallic element; A is aminoacid, organic amine; R is alkyl, benzyl which may be substituted with, e.g., alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, phenacyl which may be substituted with the same).
USE: A cholesterol synthesis inhibitor in liver, which is used as a drug for treating hyperlipemia or preventing arteriosclerosis. It is more resistant to inactivation in vivo than its unhydrogenated derivative.
PREPARATION: MB-530B is dissolved in a solvent and hydrogenated in the presence of a catalyst to give compounds of formulaIand II. When needed, they are converted into their salts or ester by known methods to give compounds of formula IIIWV.
