Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a carcinostatic agent capable of inhibiting spermidine- synthesis enzyme, and having strong carcinostatic activity to the cancers such as Ehrlich ascites carcinoma, by using dicyclohexylamine as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: The objective carcinostatic agent contains at least one compound selected from dicyclohexylamine and its acid addition salts (e.g. hydrochloride, sulfate, etc.) as an active component. It has been suggested that spermidine plays a role in the proliferation of cancer cells from the fact that the urine, blood and cancer tissue of cancer patients have high spermidine content. Dicyclohexylamine remarkably inhibits the spermidine-synthesis enzyme, and exhibits strong carcino- static effect to the cancers such as Ehrlich ascites carcinoma, Ehrlich scirrhous cancer, sarcoma 180, leukemia, etc. It can be administered orally or parenterally. Dose: usually about 1W100mg of dicyclohexylamine or its salt per kg daily, given in 1Wseveral divided doses.
