Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of an optical system and to improve precision, by a method wherein using 2 types of light source being different in wavelength, a current is measured by light having one wavelength and a voltage by light having the other wavelength, and an optical fiber is used as a transmission path. CONSTITUTION:Lights from emitting devices 24 and 25 having light sources with wavelengths lambda1 and lambda2 are inputted to a photo composing device 27 for multiplex to supply it to a photo detector 28 via an optical fiber 26c. The light is rectilinearly polarized by a polarizer 3 and devided by means of a photo devider 30, the one is fed to a light Farady element 4 which applies an external magnetic field 5, and the other to an electrooptical element 6 which applies an electric field from a terminal 7. The outputs are devided by a photo-devider 36 via a photo composing device 33, a optical sensor 34, and an optical fiber 35a, and are processed by light detectors 37 and 38 and a signal processing circuit 39 to obtain an output. The use of two types of light sources permits the substantial simplification of an optical system and enables easy measuring of a current and a voltage.
